How we rank tyres

Every ranking on this site is built from four kinds of evidence, each cited where it is used.

1. Independent tests

Braking, handling, noise and wear results from published tyre tests such as ADAC, Auto Bild and tyrereviews.com. We only use a result for a model that is sold in India, and we say which size was tested. Tests paid for by a tyre maker are labelled as such.

2. Manufacturer specifications

Sizes, load and speed ratings, tread patterns and warranty terms, taken from each brand’s Indian website.

3. Indian prices

Prices from Indian sellers, with the date we checked them. They are indicative and change often.

4. What suits Indian roads

Heat, monsoon rain, broken surfaces and long highway runs weigh on which tyre is right. We weigh wet grip, sidewall strength and tread life more heavily than a European test would.

Corrections

If a price, specification or result is wrong, we fix it and update the page date.
