1. What is the Hyundai Creta's tyre size?
It depends on the trim. cardekho.com lists 34 current Creta variants, and its "Tyre Size" field splits them three ways (checked November 2026).
| Tyre size | Wheel | Creta variants | How many | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 205/65 R16 | 16-inch | E, E Diesel, EX, EX Diesel, EX Summer Edition, EX Diesel Summer Edition | 6 of 34 | cardekho, Creta E |
| 215/60 R17 | 17-inch | SX, SX DT, SX Summer Edition, SX Premium (petrol, diesel and iVT, with DT and Summer Edition versions) | 12 of 34 | cardekho, Creta SX |
| 215/55 R18 | 18-inch | King, King DT, King Diesel, King Diesel AT, King Knight iVT, King Lounge Edition and other King versions | 16 of 34 | cardekho, Creta King |
That table describes Cretas on sale now. An older Creta, such as a 2021 car, may have left the factory on a different trim-to-size split, and the reliable check is the size moulded on the sidewall of your current tyres. The tyre has to match the wheel diameter, so an R17 tyre will only go on a 17-inch rim.

215/55 R18 (Creta King trims)
No 215/55 R18 price was recorded in our November 2026 check; section 5 sets out what we can say about this size.
3. What is the best tyre for a Creta on 16-inch wheels?
The 205/65 R16 is the size where the most Creta-specific evidence exists, because Michelin chose a Creta in this size for its own India test. That makes the evidence plentiful and also one-sided, so it is set out here with the independent results beside it.
| Pick | Price (Nov 2026) | Why | Evidence type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Michelin Primacy 4 ST | ₹8,601 | Michelin's mainstream comfort and safety line at this size | Brand positioning; commissioned braking test in another size |
| Goodyear Assurance TripleMax | ₹5,475 | Lowest recorded price; pitched on braking and wet grip | Brand claim |
| Michelin Energy XM2+ | ₹9,499 | Longest-life claim among these | Commissioned mileage test |
| CEAT Milaze X3 | ₹6,499 | Mileage-focused line at a mid price | Brand naming only |
The Primacy 5 test on a Creta, and what it leaves out
Michelin had Applus+ IDIADA test the Primacy 5 at NATRAX in Indore in May and June 2026, in 205/65 R16 on a Hyundai Creta, against the Bridgestone Turanza 6i, Continental UltraContact UC6 and Yokohama BluEarth GT Max AE51. New, it stopped in 30.5 m on a wet surface against a competitor average of 38.6 m; worn to 2 mm, the figures were 37.6 m and 46.5 m. Independent European tests of the Primacy 5 were less flattering: it placed 7th of 16 in ADAC's 2026 test, held back by a driving-safety grade of 3.2, and 6th of 8 for Auto Express, where it had the lowest rolling resistance of any tyre tested.
We did not record a street price for the Primacy 5 in 205/65 R16, so it is not in the table above. Ask your dealer if it is stocked.
Goodyear Assurance TripleMax for the budget
Goodyear says the TripleMax offers "Maximum Braking Ability, Maximum Wet Grip & Maximum Control". It was one of the rivals in a CATARC test Michelin commissioned in 2018, in which Michelin says its Energy XM2+ had the shortest wet braking distance; no metres were published, so how far behind the TripleMax was is not known.
Energy XM2+ for distance
The same commissioned CATARC test, run in 205/55 R16 on a VW Golf 7, claimed 25% more mileage than the competitor average, extrapolated from a 20,000 km run. It is the dearest tyre we recorded in this size at ₹9,499.
4. What is the best tyre for a Creta on 17-inch wheels?
For the SX and SX Premium, the one independent group test is Auto Bild's 215/60 R17 compact-SUV test, first run in 2021 and re-dated October 2025. It ranked European patterns, so here is how each top finisher maps to what Indian shops sell.
| Auto Bild place | Tyre tested | Verdict | Status in India |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Goodyear EfficientGrip 2 SUV | vorbildlich (exemplary) | Not seen on goodyear.co.in |
| 2 | Michelin Primacy 4 | vorbildlich | Line on michelin.in; the 215/60 R17 Michelin we found on sale is the Primacy 4 ST, a different pattern |
| 3 | Bridgestone Turanza T005 | vorbildlich | Named on Bridgestone India's Turanza page; no price recorded |
| 4 | Continental PremiumContact 6 | gut | Sold in India in 17 to 20 inch rims; no price recorded in this size |
The page gives no braking distances. Here are our picks from what is on sale:
| Pick | Price (Nov 2026) | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Michelin Primacy 4 ST | ₹12,480 | Michelin's touring line in this size; 5-year warranty from purchase |
| Goodyear Assurance TripleMax | ₹9,712 (tyreplex.com) to ₹10,495 (tyremarket.com) | Wet-focused positioning at ₹1,985 to ₹2,768 less than the Michelin |
| Apollo Alnac 4G | ₹6,912 | Comfort-and-control positioning at a little over half the Michelin's price |
| CEAT SecuraDrive | ₹7,500 | Has an Indian braking review in the 16-inch size |
Michelin Primacy 4 ST
Its product page carries a braking claim from a CATARC test Michelin commissioned in 2018, in 225/55 R17: 4.5 m shorter than the competitor average new and 7.3 m shorter worn. The page does not name the competitors, and the footnote text is garbled. Michelin's warranty runs for 5 years from purchase or until the tread reaches the legal minimum, whichever comes first.
Apollo Alnac 4G and CEAT SecuraDrive
Apollo pitches the Alnac 4G on comfort and control. The European Alnac 4G placed 27th of 50 in ADAC's 2023 205/55 R16 test, and it is not known whether the Indian tyre is built the same way. The SecuraDrive's only Indian test, an evo India review on a Kia Sonet, was in 215/60 R16 rather than the Creta's 17-inch size.
What we would put on a Creta SX
For the owner who drives mostly in town and takes a highway trip each month, the Primacy 4 ST is where we would spend, because it is the only tyre on sale in this size with any braking figure attached, commissioned or not, and the monthly highway run is when that margin matters. If ₹49,920 for a set is too much, the TripleMax at roughly ₹39,000 to ₹42,000 is the compromise we would accept.
5. What about the 18-inch tyres on the Creta King?
Sixteen of the 34 current variants, all King trims, run 215/55 R18. We have no price for that size from tyremarket.com or tyreplex.com, and no independent test in that exact size, so we are not naming a best tyre for it yet.
What can be said is narrow. Michelin announced that its Chennai plant would make the Primacy 5, Pilot Sport 5, Pilot Sport 4 SUV and LTX Trail ST in 16 to 22 inch sizes, with sales due in the first half of 2026, Autocar India reported. Whether a 215/55 R18 is among them is unconfirmed.
6. What does it cost to replace all four Creta tyres?
| Size | Cheapest set recorded | Michelin Primacy 4 ST set | Priciest set recorded |
|---|---|---|---|
| 205/65 R16 | ₹21,900 (Goodyear Assurance TripleMax) | ₹34,404 | ₹37,996 (Michelin Energy XM2+) |
| 215/60 R17 | ₹25,200 (Apollo Apterra Cross) | ₹49,920 | ₹54,756 (Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season) |
Each figure is four times the tyremarket.com price above. Apollo's guide gives indicative rates of ₹150–300 per wheel for balancing and ₹1,000–1,500 for a four-wheel alignment, which adds roughly ₹1,600 to ₹2,700 to a set. Our car tyre price guide covers other sizes.
Apollo's Apterra Cross is not among the lines shown on Apollo's India car-tyre page, which does not list every Apollo pattern, so check its current status with the seller.
7. When should you replace a Creta's tyres?
The legal floor in India is 1.6 mm of tread above the wear indicator, under rule 94(3)(iv) of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules. Apollo advises replacing at 2.3 mm rather than waiting for the legal limit, and Michelin recommends rotating tyres about every 8,000 to 10,000 km so the four wear evenly.
Warranties also differ in where the clock starts.
| Brand | Car tyre warranty | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Michelin | 5 years from purchase, or to the legal tread limit | michelin.in |
| MRF | 6 years from month of manufacture, pro-rata | mrftyres.com |
| Apollo | 5 years from week of manufacture, pro-rata | apollotyres.com |
| Continental | 5 years from week of production | continental-tires.com |
