The best car tyres in India for 2026 at a glance
The best tyre for a car in India is the one built for how that car is driven. For a city hatchback that means the cheapest tyre with a sound record, while a family SUV that tours in the monsoon should get the best wet-braking result it can afford. Our short answer for most sedan and compact-SUV owners is the Michelin Primacy 4 ST if the budget allows, and the CEAT SecuraDrive or Apollo Alnac 4G if it does not.
| # | Model | Group | Best for | Example price, Nov 2026 |

Unless marked otherwise, prices are single-tyre listings on tyremarket.com, checked on 6 November 2026. Each model section links the exact listing. Prices on both sites move often, and tyreplex.com's listing cards do not say whether the figure shown is per tyre, so treat them as a guide to where each tyre sits rather than as a quote you can hold a dealer to. The michelin.in figures are Michelin's recommended "starts from" price for the smallest size, not a street price.
What size does your car use?
Start with the size printed on your current tyres or on the door-jamb sticker. The table lists stock sizes of popular cars from their cardekho variant spec pages, checked in November 2026, so you can see which price examples below apply to you.

The Creta, Seltos and Nexon have their own pages: see tyres for the Hyundai Creta and 215/60 R16 tyres.
Best comfort and touring tyres
Comfort tyres trade a little steering sharpness for lower noise, a softer ride and, in the better ones, strong wet braking. The comparison below uses 215/55 R17, the size on the XUV 3XO AX7 and the Innova Crysta ZX. That size shows the full spread from Indian to imported brands.
| Model | 215/55 R17 price | Seller |
|---|---|---|
| JK Tyre UX Royale | ₹5,978 | tyremarket.com |
| CEAT SecuraDrive | ₹6,404 | tyremarket.com |
| Apollo Alnac 4G | ₹10,323 | tyremarket.com |
| Yokohama Earth-1 E400 | ₹10,430 | tyremarket.com |
| Michelin Primacy 4 ST | ₹13,538 | tyremarket.com |
| Pirelli Cinturato P7 | ₹18,289 | tyremarket.com |
In this size the Alnac 4G sits only about ₹3,200 below the Primacy 4 ST, a much smaller gap than in 15 and 16 inch sizes.
1. Michelin Primacy 4 ST
Michelin describes the Primacy 4 ST as "Safety made to last", (product page). It was the Michelin that turned up most often in our November price check across 15 to 17 inch sizes. Listings run from ₹7,904 at 195/60 R15 through ₹8,601 at 205/65 R16 and ₹10,499 at 215/60 R16 to ₹12,480 at 215/60 R17.
We found no independent test of the ST itself. Its European sibling, the Primacy 4, was 2nd of 18 in ADAC's 215/60 R16 test, but michelin.in lists the two as separate products, so that result belongs to the Primacy 4. Michelin's page cites a 2018 CATARC test it commissioned, claiming 4.5 m shorter braking than unnamed rivals when new and 7.3 m when worn, but the footnote is garbled and names the Primacy 4 rather than the ST, so we give it little weight.
It is on this list because it is the most affordable way into Michelin's comfort range in common sizes, and because Michelin's own commissioned figures for the newer Primacy 5 use it as the baseline.
2. Michelin Primacy 5
The Primacy 5 is Michelin's newest comfort tyre in India, from ₹9,450 on michelin.in, and one of four lines Michelin is making in Chennai, per Autocar India. Whether the made-in-India sizes are on shelves yet is something we could not confirm.
The European results are mixed. ADAC's 2026 225/50 R17 test put it 7th of 16, with a weak driving-safety grade (3.2) and an environment grade of 1.8 that was the second best in the field (ADAC). Auto Express found it 3rd in wet braking, 1.8 metres off the best, last in dry handling, and first on rolling resistance (review).
Michelin's India test was commissioned. Run by Applus+ IDIADA at NATRAX on a Creta in 205/65 R16, against the Turanza 6i, UltraContact UC6 and BluEarth-GT AE51, it gave dry braking of 38.1 m against a 42.2 m average and a ride-comfort reading over a cleat at 40 km/h of 4.8 against 5.2 m/s², by Michelin's account of the results. It also projects 8% longer life and 6.5% lower rolling resistance than the Primacy 4 ST, on a lab test. Buy it for efficiency, and for an EV's range, rather than for the sharpest handling.
3. Bridgestone Turanza 6i
Bridgestone says the Turanza 6i "caters to all Premium Vehicles covering SUVs, CUVs, Sedans and Hatchbacks" in 36 sizes from 14 to 20 inches (Turanza page). That breadth is its strongest point. Few comfort tyres here cover a 14-inch hatchback and a 20-inch SUV in the same range.
The European Turanza 6 tests well: 3rd in Auto Bild's 2024 205/55 R16 test, though 6th in ADAC's 2026 test. None of that transfers to the 6i. Its only measured appearance is as one of three rivals averaged together in Michelin's commissioned NATRAX test. Our November price check did not capture a 6i listing, so ask a Bridgestone dealer to quote it in your size next to a Primacy 4 ST, because those two and the UC6 are the tyres Michelin itself treats as the comparison set.
4. Continental UltraContact UC6
The UC6 is Continental's India-specific touring tyre (product page). Michelin names it as one of the India-market competitors in its Primacy 5 test, which says something about where it sits in the market.
Do not confuse it with the European UltraContact. That tyre placed 7th of 50 in ADAC 2023, is a different product, and is not in Continental's India sitemap, while the UC6 has neither an independent test nor, in our check, a retail listing with a price. It is a gap. Choose it on the strength of Continental's wider record and a dealer's quote.
5. Pirelli Cinturato P7
The Cinturato P7 appears twice in Pirelli's India catalogue, as the original ("Safety and respect of environment") and as the P7C2 ("Confidence and comfort for premium commuter"). At ₹13,740 for 205/55 R16 it was the dearest comfort tyre in that size in our check.
Its test results are middling for the money. The P7 C2 was 17th of 50 in ADAC 2023 and rated "gut" in Auto Bild's 2023 SUV test, at 53.8 m in the wet. Pick it if the brand and the ride matter more to you than the test table.
Best value car tyres
Value here means the lowest price that still comes with a track record. The table uses 195/65 R15, the size on the Hyundai Venue HX 2–5 and Kia Sonet HTE.
| Model | 195/65 R15 price | Seller |
|---|---|---|
| JK Tyre UX Royale | ₹5,656 | tyreplex.com |
| Apollo Alnac 4G | ₹6,240 | tyremarket.com |
| CEAT SecuraDrive | ₹6,785 | tyremarket.com |
| Bridgestone B250 | ₹7,648 | tyreplex.com |
| Michelin Energy XM2+ | ₹7,758 | tyremarket.com |
| Goodyear Assurance TripleMax | ₹9,383 | tyremarket.com |
For the smaller hatchback sizes, see the Amazer 4G Life and Energy XM2+ entries below.
6. CEAT SecuraDrive
The SecuraDrive is the most tested Indian-brand tyre we found, and the results are worth reading closely. In a 2020 evo India review on a Kia Sonet in 215/60 R16, it stopped from 100 km/h in 43.89 m, against 48.16 m for the car's original tyres. In Auto Bild's 2024 205/55 R16 qualifying, by contrast, it was cut for braking distances judged too long (Auto Bild).
The SecuraDrive holds a 5-star BEE rating for rolling resistance (Autocar Professional). It is also among the cheapest tyres in compact-SUV sizes, at ₹5,919 for 215/60 R16 on tyremarket.com.
7. Apollo Alnac 4G
Apollo sells the Alnac 4G as "High performance tyres for Comfort and Control" (product page). Apollo gives a new Alnac 4G's tread depth as 7.5 mm (tread guide).
A tyre of the same name finished 27th of 50 in ADAC's 2023 205/55 R16 test, graded 3.2. Whether it shares a construction with the India Alnac 4G is not something we could verify. Prices are competitive in most sizes: ₹6,631 at 215/60 R16 and ₹6,912 at 215/60 R17.
8. JK Tyre UX Royale
The UX Royale was the cheapest of the ten major brands in several mid sizes we checked. It costs ₹5,978 at 215/55 R17, less than half the Primacy 4 ST in that size. JK also sells it in Puncture Guard and Smart Tyre versions (JK range).
There is no independent test of the UX Royale. You are buying on price and on JK's warranty, 5 years from manufacture or invoice (JK warranty).
9. Apollo Amazer 4G Life
For a Swift LXi, Dzire VXI or Wagon R, the Amazer 4G Life is one of the cheapest branded tyres in the sizes these cars use. Apollo lists it as a hatchback and sedan highway tyre (Apollo car tyres).
| Model | 165/80 R14 (Swift LXi/VXi, Dzire LXI/VXI) | 185/65 R15 (Swift ZXi, Dzire ZXI, Baleno Delta) |
|---|---|---|
| Apollo Amazer 4G Life | ₹3,821 | ₹5,449 |
| CEAT Milaze X3 | ₹3,821 | ₹5,337 |
| MRF ZLX | not captured | ₹6,514 |
| Michelin Energy XM2+ | ₹4,563 | ₹10,217 |
| Yokohama Earth-1 Max | ₹5,789 | not captured |
All prices are from tyremarket.com, checked on 6 November 2026. None of these patterns has an independent test we could find.
10. Michelin Energy XM2+
Michelin calls the Energy XM2+ "A tyre that lasts" (product page). At 165/80 R14 it costs only about ₹740 more than the Amazer 4G Life, which makes it the cheapest route to a premium brand on a small car.
Its evidence is all commissioned. In a 2018 CATARC test for Michelin at 205/55 R16 on a VW Golf 7, it had the shortest wet braking against the Bridgestone Ecopia EP150, Goodyear Assurance TripleMax, Continental ComfortContact CC6, Dunlop SP Touring R1 and Hankook Enfren H430, according to Michelin's footnote. Michelin also claims 25% more mileage than their average, extrapolated from a 20,000 km run. No metres were published. The price advantage disappears at 185/65 R15, where tyremarket.com lists it above ₹10,000.
Best performance car tyres
Performance tyres grip harder in dry corners and usually wear faster. The two best results for India-sold tyres come from the same test, ADAC's 2025 225/40 R18, as summarised by auto motor und sport.
| Model | Independent result | India availability | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Michelin Pilot Sport 5 | ADAC 2025: 1.9, joint 2nd | michelin.in | from ₹11,100 (michelin.in) |
| Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 | ADAC 2025: 1.9, joint 2nd | goodyear.co.in | not captured |
| Continental PremiumContact 6 | ADAC 2022 215/60 R16: 1st of 18; ADAC 2023 205/55 R16: 2nd of 50 | India: 17 to 20 inch only | not captured |
| Michelin Pilot Sport 4 | no independent result read | michelin.in | from ₹25,000 (michelin.in) |
The 2025 winner, the Continental SportContact 7 at 1.8, is not on this list because we could not confirm it is sold in India.
11. Michelin Pilot Sport 5
The Pilot Sport 5 is the entry point to Michelin's performance range at ₹11,100, well below the Pilot Sport 4's ₹25,000 on michelin.in. Chennai is set to make it. In ADAC's 2025 test it tied with the Bridgestone Potenza Sport and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, one tenth behind the winner. For a hot hatch or sports sedan that sees a mix of city commuting and enthusiastic weekend driving, it has the best combination of list price and independent evidence of any performance tyre we could confirm on sale in India.
12. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6
Goodyear India sells the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 with the line "excellent wet braking and swift lane control" (performance tyres). Its ADAC 2025 grade matched the Pilot Sport 5. With no Indian price captured, ask a dealer to quote both in your size, since the test cannot separate them.
Best SUV tyres in India
SUV tyres split into highway tyres, which are quieter and more efficient, and all-terrain tyres, which are tougher on broken roads. The table compares prices in two common SUV sizes.
| Model | Type | 235/60 R18 (Harrier, XUV700 AX7L) | 265/60 R18 (Fortuner 4x4) |
|---|---|---|---|
| JK Tyre Ranger H/T | highway | ₹10,934 (tyreplex.com) | ₹12,637 (tyreplex.com) |
| Apollo Apterra AT2 | all-terrain | not captured | ₹14,695 |
| Michelin Primacy SUV+ | highway | ₹16,944 | not captured |
| Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 | all-terrain | not captured | ₹18,059 (tyreplex.com) |
| Michelin LTX Trail ST | all-season, on/off-road | not captured | ₹18,970 |
| Pirelli Scorpion Verde | highway | ₹26,785 | — |
| Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season | highway | — | ₹27,042 |
Prices are from tyremarket.com unless marked, checked on 6 November 2026.
14. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV
This is the best-tested SUV tyre sold in India. It won Auto Bild's 2023 225/65 R17 test, stopping from 100 km/h in 49.9 m wet and 35.2 m dry, while the slowest tyre in that test needed 63.6 m in the wet. Michelin described it and the Latitude Sport 3 as India's first 5-star BEE-rated car tyres in 2022.
It starts at ₹20,300 on michelin.in, and it is one of the four lines Michelin is making locally. If your SUV spends weekends on the Konkan ghats in the rain and Michelin makes it in your size, this is the tyre whose wet-braking evidence best matches that use.
15. Michelin Primacy SUV+
This is Michelin's SUV comfort tyre. Michelin positions it on safety for long journeys and on longevity (product page). It lists at ₹12,226 in 225/65 R17, close to the Bridgestone Ecopia EP850 at ₹11,660 and well above the CEAT SportDrive SUV at ₹8,586. No independent test of it was found, so a buyer is relying on the Michelin name rather than on any measurement of the Primacy SUV+ itself, since the brand's strong SUV result belongs to the sportier Pilot Sport 4 SUV.
16. Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance SUV
Goodyear calls this tyre "exceptionally quiet and comfortable" (SUV tyres). Its only published numbers come from a 2017 session at Chang International Circuit in Thailand, organised by Goodyear before the tyre's launch and reported by Autocar India. It stopped from 80 km/h in the wet in 24.5 m, about a metre shorter than the Continental it was run against, and measured 74.1 dB at 80 km/h in the noise run against the rival's 76.3 dB. Those are brand-run demonstration numbers. At ₹14,839 in 215/65 R16, it was the dearest tyre in that size in our check.
17. Apollo Apterra AT2
For a Thar, Fortuner or Scorpio owner who leaves the tarmac, the Apterra AT2 is the value all-terrain choice, priced below the MRF, Yokohama and Michelin alternatives in every size where we found them side by side. Apollo simply calls it "All terrains SUV Tyres" (product page). In the Thar AXT's 245/75 R16 it lists at ₹8,318, against ₹9,009 for the MRF Wanderer A/T. It is cheaper at 265/60 R18 too. No independent test of any all-terrain tyre sold in India was found, so for this group the choice comes down to price, warranty and what local off-roaders run.
